Why we love Ellsworth? The people. The more I live in this community, the more I realize that it’s such a “caring” community. It’s much more than welcoming and friendly. I see over and over again where there is a need, there is help. I am pretty sure that we are one of the most successful fundraising communities. I feel there’s a true sense of community here.

After careful research of the region, we chose Ellsworth for Zeppa’s. While performing our due diligence along the way, it became apparent that this city was poised for bigger things, and we wanted Zeppa’s to be a part of that for sure. From a city dedicated to service, to its local businesses and organizations, Ellsworth greeted us with open arms. While Ellsworth has earned the moniker of “certified business friendly”, it’s so much more than that. In our opinion “Certified Friendly” describes this city better.

When searching for a new corporate office location, it was decided early on that proximity to downtown Ellsworth was top of our list. This provided us with easy access to our Ellsworth and Bar Harbor properties while shortening the commute for our administrative staff, many of whom live in Ellsworth and surrounding communities. Choosing an Ellsworth location also allowed us to operate where many of our vendors, service providers, and community partners are based, which helps foster deeper relationships. We were pleased to find the City of Ellsworth very welcoming and accommodating in assisting us during the relocation process.

For our employees who chose Ellsworth as their residence, we often find the vibrant downtown, year-round community, and proximity to entertainment, goods, and services as top reasons for this choice.

Through feedback from our Ellsworth hotel guests, we are discovering that more and more Acadia visitors are choosing Ellsworth-based accommodations for their proximity to the national park and surrounding areas, while still providing great options for arts, entertainment, and dining.

Ellsworth is a spot where people come from all around. It’s a major hub for shopping. People come from Downeast Maine, from Machias even. They come all the way up from the midcoast. It’s a booming little city.

Ellsworth, Maine is home to The Jackson Laboratory Charles E. Hewett Center, a facility dedicated to products and services that empower the global biomedical community to improve human health. Our Ellsworth location provides access to critical utilities, municipal services, and the workforce needed to fulfil our non-profit mission and that of our customers and research partners.

We love being business owners in Ellsworth. We truly feel as though we are able to be a fabric of the community, and with the support of the City, that we have been able to grow our business from a single location, to a business with a statewide presence.

In 1998 Wallace Events started doing business in a 4000 square foot building just outside of Ellsworth. By 2005 we found ourselves bursting at the seams and in desperate need of more space. We began a search for a solution and it wasn't long before we were introduced to the City of Ellsworth's Economic Development office. The Economic Development office along with the City Manager and City Staff worked as though they were part of our company. They worked tirelessly to find us a new home in Ellsworth. We ultimately purchased a commercial lot, built our first 10,000 square foot building, and relocated the company to Ellsworth. We have since purchased 4 abbutting lots and have added an additional 20,000 square feet of warehouse space. I am so glad we made the move to Ellsworth, it is a key piece of the foundation that has allowed us to do business all over the North East.

Ellsworth is a desert for Canine resources and activities. Bangor would have been an easy choice however they have multiple groomers and daycares for clients to choose from. Ellsworth's community was ready and in need of a place for clients to take their dogs. We started in Trenton as that is where a rental space was available. Something to Wag About also wanted to be close to Acadia as that is rated the most dog friendly national park in the country. Seeing many visitors traveling with their pets we knew there was a market. However we are not just here to care for the summer clients that Bar Harbor and Acadia bring in. So when we outgrew our small space in Trenton we needed to rethink our location. Ellsworth was the easy choice. It was easy access for locals in the winter months and not a far drive for summer clients. We also wanted to join a community that accepted and respected our education. Since joining the Ellsworth community we have participated in school events, pride and Autumn gold. We have been asked to share our knowledge and loved every minute of it. We here at Something to Wag About are very thankful for the community in Ellsworth.
